really?
this much fun? are you kidding me?
Wait, now what?
this is going to be more fun than I thought.
and we’re done.
So, another familiar sight. Sitting in a hotel room that will be home for the next two weeks. Not unlike the last two weeks. Except, this place has a microwave. The places before it had other unique things, like a patio, or a heavenly bed, or a glass shower…but it’s still pretty much the same.
The sense of accomplishment hasn’t really revealed itself to me and thus the differences in hotel rooms are quaint. It lends itself to hanging on to some sort of familiarity. Tucson, Austin, New Orleans and St. Louis are worlds apart, but bridging the gap are the similarities between hotels. The stability is nice. Yet the stability itself is really just fancy transitions.
I’m at a Hilton Garden Inn, which means nothing to me. It’s just another temporary room. When I last moved, I stayed in a hotel for a month. The time before that was three weeks. Before that it was another month. I’m slated for two weeks here. A whole season of hotel living. I’m still not very good at it anyway. I’ve unpacked, organized my food, clothes, cables, chargers, adapters, hard drives, and whatever else I’m forgetting. So it’s a little like home. A little like familiar. Which I’ll take for now.
I’ve fallen behind in keeping track of and responding to the well wishes. Hopefully they’ll understand the lack of communication, and I’ll stop being hard on myself about not being prompt with returning facebook and myspace messages. The reminders are bittersweet and I think I’ll be better about responding with a semblance of sanity in the next few days.
Oh, wait. was that a serious blog post? I can’t start doing that.
I think I’ll have some pictures to upload tomorrow. Probably of glass showers and microwaves.
Tomorrow is another day. Except this another day won’t feel like the rest. And I like that.
2,999 miles later.
I’m home. Tomorrow I drive to Milwaukee. Monday I start my new job.
I don’t even know where to start.
8 to 10 to 55. (minus 70 miles of highway to get us into Austin). Simple as that. I’m excited to tell you more about my trip, and how much fun it was.
But right now I’m sick and exhausted. We’ll go over stuff tomorrow.
en route
decided to go to st louis today. Well about 16 minutes ago at the 55 57 split. I’m a sucker for the arch.
I should not drive and blog.

Part of the problem with being in New Orleans is that I don’t particularly feel inclined to spend much time in front of the computer. As a result, I’ve got a few thousand photos to sort through and not the slightest idea when I’m going to do that. Maybe I’ll do that when I get to St. Louis tonight, but I’d much rather get to the top of the gateway arch (so that I can continue to exercise my right to be scared of heights) and fuck around before I head to Chicago tomorrow, and Milwaukee on Sunday.
Side note, “Milwaukee on Sunday” might be a neat name for a band.
I get the feeling Graceland is calling as well. See ya in Memphis for lunch.
